Two Academic All-Americans Anchor 2017-18 Fighting Knights' Success in the Classroom

BOCA RATON, Fla. - We are pleased to share the student-athletes' success in the classroom as the Fighting Knights earned a 3.27 department GPA for the semester. An impressive 38 students posted a perfect 4.0 GPA in the spring. Women's golf led the way with an unprecedented team-high 3.90 GPA, featuring four students with a 4.0 for the term. Women's golf was joined by women's tennis having 100% of the roster earn above a 3.60 GPA. Women's tennis posted a 3.87 team GPA. Men's soccer led the way on the men's side, with a 3.55 team GPA, boasting seven students with a perfect 4.0 GPA.

The Fighting Knights shined in the classroom during the 2017-18 academic year with a department GPA of 3.32, while 210 student-athletes earned a 3.0 GPA or better. Anchoring the academic honors for the year, Catalina Berraud-Galea (women's swimming) and Cody Bartusiak (men's lacrosse) collected 2018 Academic All-America Division II At-Large awards. Both were named to the first team, as Berraud-Galea became the fourth Academic All-American for the young swimming program, and Bartusiak will go down in history as the first Academic All-American for the lacrosse program. The department saw 13 of 15 teams earn a 3.0 GPA or better, while women's golf earned the title of Champions in the Classroom for the second consecutive year, with a 3.87 GPA during the 2017-18 academic year.
