Junior (2011): Made 21 appearances on the mound, all in relief…posted a 0-2 record with four saves, a 2.50 earned run average and 33 strikeouts in 39.2 innings pitched…was fourth in the Sunshine State Conference in saves, tied for fourth in games finished (13) and tied for fifth in appearances…after allowing eight earned runs in his first six appearances, surrendered just two earned runs over final 13 appearances…led the team in appearances and saves…earned his first save in a 7-5 victory over No. 5 Mount Olive (2/11), pitching two scoreless innings with one strikeout…struck out a season-best four batters against Wilmington (3/7) and at Tampa (3/19), both three inning appearances…pitched a career-high four innings in the season finale against Nova Southeastern (5/7).

Prior to Lynn: Played one season at Hillsborough Community College under Gary Calhoun…teammates with current Fighting Knight Andrew Virgili…appeared in 18 games, going 1-1 with a 5.92 earned-run average and 32 strikeouts in 24.1 innings pitched…also pitched for the Duluth Huskies in the Northwoods league…second in the league in saves with 11 while also recording a 2.20 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 28.1 IP…also played a year at Tallahassee Community College where appeared in seven games, went 1-0 with a 4.50 ERA and 10 strikeouts in eight innings pitched.

High School: Played for Brian Joros at West Boca High School…four-year letterwinner…was 5-1 with a 2.70 ERA in earning honorable mention all-area honors.

Born Jason Charles Whalen on December 10, 1989 in Edison, N.J…son of William and Donna Whalen… has one sibling, Kelsey…sports management major…career ambition is to be a head coach at the Major League level…enjoys working out and watching NFL and NBA games…lists The Town as his favorite movie and chicken wings as his favorite food…enjoys the pressure of being on the mound…describes himself as hard working, goal oriented, brave and humorous.
