Student-athletes will compete on behalf of their teams and earn points in the following categories that align with the Fighting Knights for Life Program: Academic Excellence, Athletic Excellence, Personal Development, Career Development, and Community Service. The Knights Cup competition encourages the achievement of academic excellence, promotes personalized choices for supplementing the student-athlete's educational background, provides opportunities for personal development, involves the student-athlete as a role-model/leader and supports the team concept and encourages student-athletes to support fellow student-athletes. At the end of the academic year, the team that has earned the most points in all the categories below is named the Knights Cup CHAMPION and will receive $1,000!

Academic Excellence

Athletic Excellence

Career Development

Individual Categories
Points Awarded
Student-athletes who complete a resume and have it evaluated by the Career Center. Bring a copy of the original resume and the edited/corrected version to the Life Skills Coordinator to receive credit 50 Percentage based
Student-athletes who complete three cover letters by finding three job postings for jobs in your intended field and prepare a brief summary of why you are qualified for each position. Letters must be reviewed by the Career Center and submitted to the Life Skills Coordinator to receive credit 50 Percentage based
Student-athletes who complete a mock interview in the Career Center. Bring a signed form from the Career Center and submitted to the Life Skills Coordinator to receive credit 50 Percentage based

Personal Development

Student-athletes who participate in a student organization (must be listed on organization roster and active in organization's regular business to receive credit--SAAC does not qualify) 50 Percentage based
Student-athletes who attend any Lynn sponsored event outside of athletics (i.e. Student Activity events, Resident Life seminars, campus plays or musical performances, guest speakers/presentations, etc.) 10 Percentage based

Community Service

Student-athletes who participate in SAAC's Make-A-Wish Foundation fundraiser 10 points for every $50 donation
Student-athletes who are involved in other approved community service initiatives through the athletic department or other entity on campus (# of hours/squad size) x 10
Team Categories

Teams who have full participation (80%) at an approved community service event for more than 4 hours 50
Team who collects the most community service hours for during the year 100

 

Rules and Regulations

  • The Knights Cup champion will receive $1,000 to spend as the student-athletes wish in compliance with all NCAA rules. The item(s) must be approved by the Life Skills Coordinator before spending or purchase.
  • Percentage based points will be awarded by the following formula: (#of student-athletes/squad size) x # of points
  • The Team Community Service award will be percentage based on squad size.
  • All activities that take place outside of the Athletic Department must have a Knights Cup formed filled out and submitted to the Life Skills Coordinator within one week of the event to receive credit. All forms will be in a folder outside of the Life Skills Coordinators office.
  • Each student-athlete must be scanned in by a member of the Athletics Department staff at events to record attendance. Verbal requests for attendance recording will not be accepted.
  • Team points will be figured once a month and posted online.
