Knightly Review January 22nd
Lynn University’s winter sports are in mid-season form with men’s & women’s basketball and swimming all in action. The Fighting Knights basketball teams took on a pair of opponents last week and look forward to two more on Wednesday and Saturday while swimming had its final tune-up before the Sunshine State Conference Championship.
Additionally, the campus is abuzz with the 6th Annual Family Fun Day returning to campus on Saturday, January 26. This year the festivities begin at 10 a.m. and will include the Mini Knights Challenge, inflatable & interactive games, meet & autograph session with Lynn student-athletes, bingo and free admission to the Fighting Knights men’s & women’s basketball games against Nova Southeastern. The event is free and open to the entire public.
Lynn’s swimming team participated in a scrimmage against Daytona State over the weekend and Thalie Carmigniani continued her excellent season with two more victories. The Blue & White have some time-off ahead of the SSC Championships, beginning February 13, in Clearwater, Fla.
Women’s basketball improved to 4-1 in 2013 following big victories on the road at Florida Tech and Rollins. This marks the first time since the inaugural season the Fighting Knights have won on the road against the Panthers and Tars. Lynn improved its record to 11-4 overall and 4-2 in the SSC. This week the Blue & White battle Palm Beach Atlantic, whom they defeated 56-48 in November to improve to 14-4 all-time against, and Nova Southeastern, of which they own a 14-11 all-time mark against.
The men’s basketball squad stumbled a bit with a 0-2 record against FIT and Rollins. Lynn now stands at 9-6 overall and 2-4 in the league. The Fighting Knights also take on PBA and NSU this week. Palm Beach Atlantic won for just the fourth time in 13 meetings against LU with a 72-71 victory in November. Nova Southeastern is a mere 10-16 all-time against Lynn and has won just once in the last four meetings.
Tip-off for Wednesday’s games at Palm Beach Atlantic is set for 5 and 7 p.m. while Saturday’s games are slated to begin at 2 and 4 p.m. Watch all of the action live at LynnFightingKnights.com.
