Male Athlete of the Week: Jason Matusik

Lynn University's baseball team played four games this past week, taking two from Rollins in the Sunshine State Conference opener. Providing some offense firepower for the Fighting Knights was Jason Matusik.

The senior from Wellington, Fla., had at least one hit in each game, with multiple hits in every contest versus Rollins. In the 38-4 series opener, Matusik went 3-5 collecting six RBIs, four of them on a grand slam in the second inning, and scored four runs. On day two, the first baseman went 2-3 in both outings, earning a walk in the first game and scoring a run in game two.  Overall Matusik batted .571 in the four games with six RBIs, one home run, four runs scored and three walks

Matusik leads Lynn with a .413 batting average overall. He also leads the Fighting Knights in runs scored (17), hits (33), doubles (eight), RBI (25), slugging percentage (.638) and on-base percentage (.495). His two triples and home runs also tied for first on the team.

The Blue & White host northern teams Franklin Pierce and New Haven on March 19 and 20 before Florida Southern comes to the Lynn Baseball Field for a three-game conference series beginning on Friday, March 22.
