SSC Opener On Deck for Men’s Soccer
BOCA RATON, Fla. – Lynn University’s men’s soccer team has put the pedal to the metal following its season-opening loss, winning three-straight, including a victory over two nationally-ranked teams. The Fighting Knights look to carry that momentum into Saturday’s Sunshine State Conference opener against Florida Tech. Game time is slated for 1 p.m. at the McCusker Sports Complex.
The Blue & White defense absolutely suffocated No. 5 Clayton State and Anderson, holding both teams to a combined four shots on goal. Only a defensive lapse in the early-goings against Clayton State surrendered a goal. Anchored by Jason Sangha and AB Magnusson, Lynn’s defense has posted two shutouts and is holding opponents to a mere three shots on goal per game.
Offensively, LU spreads the wealth around as Harald Gracholski leads the squad with three goals and Heiko Eberhardt, Roberto Cadihle and Johnny Mertle follows with a goal apiece.
Florida Tech (3-1-0, 0-0-0 SSC) kicks-off against Palm Beach Atlantic on Thursday prior to its match against the Fighting Knights. These two teams have met 23 times since 1986 with Lynn holding a 20-3 advantage all-time. The Panthers have not beaten LU since 1994. Florida Tech also has a balanced attack as five different players have scored six goals.
