The Knightly Review - Sept. 4
Fighting Knights fans, welcome to the first installment of The Knightly Review, a weekly show dedicated to keeping you up to date on all of Lynn University’s athletic programs. We will recap the previous week’s action while looking forward to all of the Blue & White’s upcoming events.
On tap for the short week of September 4, women’s soccer plays at Flagler on Sunday, September 9, men’s soccer hosts the Wyndham Boca Raton Soccer Classic from Sept. 7-8 at the McCusker Sports complex, cross country travels to Tampa, Fla., to compete in the USF 5k Invite and volleyball welcomes five teams to the de Hoernle Sports & Cultural Center for the Courtyard by Marriott Volleyball Invitational.
The Fighting Knights women’s soccer program faces off at Flagler for the second time in three years, looking to improve upon their 0-2 record. Fans can follow the game through live stats and/or watch through live video.
Lynn’s men’s soccer team maintained its No. 2 national ranking with wins at Lees-McRae and King College with the big story being Julian Halder. The graduate forward was named the Sunshine State Conference Offensive Player of the Week after notching a game-winning assist and a hat trick. Lynn battles Ave Maria on Friday and Anderson on Saturday in the Wyndham Boca Raton Soccer Classic. Both games are set for 3:30 p.m. All games can be followed through live stats and audio.
Participating in its first race in 11 years, LU’s cross country team competed at the UT Early Bird Classic where Gabriella Wuyke took 18th place out of 133 runners. The Fighting Knights will look for further improvement at the USF Invite where Wuyke will be joined by teammates Ashley Nazario, Stephanie McGowan and Kinsey Roberts.
Finally, Lynn’s volleyball team takes part in a four-day, six-team round-robin tournament from Thursday to Sunday. The Blue & White will face Assumption for the first time in program history on Friday at 2 p.m. before returning to play Clark-Atlanta that evening at 7 p.m. Lynn then sees one match on Saturday at 7 p.m. against Valdosta State and another match on Sunday versus Puerto Rico-Mayaguez beginning at 11 a.m. Log on to the tournament website for other match times.
