Summer Baseball Update: Freedman Named Coastal Plain All-Star

Wilmington, N.C. – The Coastal Plain League announced that three Wilmington Shark players will represent the East team for the 2013 CPL All-Star Game.  Lynn University shortstop Alex Freedman was among the three selected and will participate in the mid-summer classic hosted by the Peninsula Pilots in Hampton, Ba. On July 7-8.

Freedman, a native of Davie, Fla., will be making his second CPL All-Star appearance as we he was selected for the 2012 CPL All-Star game. He hit .237 in the first half of the season with 23 hits, four doubles and a triple, while leading the Sharks with 14 RBIs.

Teammate and fellow Fighting Knight Travis Connolly (Coral Springs, Fla.) just missed the cut for an all-star appearance.  The junior right-hander is 2-2 with a 1.97 earned run average and 20 strikeouts in 32 innings of work.
