BOCA RATON, Fla. – After allowing Tuskegee to bring game one into extra innings he Lynn University baseball team came out and defeated the Golden Tigers twice to complete the sweep on Saturday afternoon. The Fighting Knights won by scores of 13-1 and 6-1 to improve to 7-5 on the season while Tuskegee falls to 4-6.

Lynn started the day off strong with an 11-run first inning. Jason Matusik had three RBIs in the opening inning, including a two-run home run that brought him and Cory Ekasik home. Despite only getting four hits in the frame, the Fighting Knights showed patience in the batter’s box drawing four walks and while two different batters were struck by a pitch. Kamm Washington played selflessly hitting a sacrifice bunt and a RBI sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first.

The offense would cool down until the fourth inning when Matusik started the frame with a double and would score off a Mike Gonzalez double to right field. Lynn would add on to the lead in the eighth when a Ryan Carmona single scored Alex Freedman.

In the second game of the series Matusik went four-for-five with three RBIs, just a triple away from the cycle. Jed Vandernaald picked up the win pitching six innings only allowing one earned run.

Game two of the day started identical to the previous, with an Enrique Perez walk followed by Elasik who had a stellar bunt for a single. Paul Stortini would hit a sacrifice to score Perez.

Tuskegee would knot up the game at 1-1 in the fourth, but Lynn would retake the lead in the fifth. Stortini tallied another RBI with a single to left field followed by a two-RBI single from Freedman to extend the lead.

Stortini went two-for-two with two RBIs in the final game of the series. Kentrail Pierce pitched five innings allowing one earned run while Andre Colon and Troy Mannenbach provided three strikeouts and no runs in two innings of relief.

The Tuskegee series kicks off a 20-game home stand for the Blue & White. On February 28, LU welcomes Chestnut Hill to Boca Raton for a double-header starting at 12 pm.
