Winter Park, Fla.—Lynn University men’s basketball player Jeremy Lampkin was named to the 2011-12 Sunshine State Conference All-Newcomer Team as announced by the conference office on Thursday.

A junior transfer from Northern Oklahoma Community College, Lampkin averaged just under 11 points per game in his rookie year at Lynn. He also tallied almost five rebounds per contest and led the team in points in eight different games.

The Peachtree City, Ga. native had 22 points and six rebounds on February 22, against Nova to help keep the Knights within striking distance throughout the game in a two-point loss.

Joining Lampkin on the SSC All-Newcomer Team was a pair of Florida Southern Mocs, Kevin Capers and Seth Evans, and a pair of Saint Leo Lions, Marcus Ruh and Trent Thomas.

Senior forward Lance Kearse from Eckerd earned SSC Player of the Year honors while Rolllins’ Chris Malcom was named defensive player of the year. Thomas from Saint Leo collected newcomer of the year accolades and Capers of Florida Southern went away with the freshman of the year award.

Lampkin helped the Blue & White improve their win total from last season as well as add an extra SSC win from the 2010-11 season.
