Lynn Men’s Basketball Makes Falcons Migrate Back Home
BOCA RATON, Fla.-Lynn University’s men’s basketball team defeated Saint Augustine’s 75-61 for their fifth win of the season. The Falcons fall to 2-6 overall while Lynn advances to 5-3 on the season. Slobodan Miljanic led the Fighting Knights with 18 points while the Falcon’s Percy Woods tallied 19. Pavle Raickovic picked up his first career double double with a 12 point and 11 rebound performance for the Blue and White.
Lynn took the initial lead of the game before St. Augustine’s tied the score at 6-all with 14:22 left in the first half. LU was able to hold off the Falcons while going up by as many as 12 with 20 seconds until the buzzer went off. Lynn shot an impressive 60% from the field while connecting on seven shots from behind the arc. Raickovic pulled down 7 of his 11 boards in the first half.
LU continued their hot streak well into the second half before St. Augustine’s rallied cutting the margin down to six at 46-40 with 13:38 to play. The Knights capitalized on turnovers from the Falcons as they flew away with a 14 point victory, 75-61.
The Falcons improved their shooting to 52.2% in the second half but it was still not enough to come from behind. Miljanic scored 15 points in the second half while connecting on three treys.
LU tailed 11 second chance points and 26 points in the paint in the non-conference win. Alongside Raickovic and Miljanic were Shamel Akins and Kaleb Clyburn who each recorded four assists. Akins added 11 points and Clyburn contributed 13 in the win.
On December 18 & 19 the Knights will wrap up their non-conference schedule when Lynn plays host to the Courtyard by Marriot Holiday Classic. On Tuesday LU tips off against St. Martin’s at 7:30 pm. Wednesday night December 19 Lynn will face Missouri Western in their final battle of the 2012 portion of the season.
