BOCA RATON, Fla.- Lynn University’s women’s basketball team defeated the Tritons of Eckerd College in a Sunshine State Conference face-off Wednesday evening in the de Hoernle Center. Kira Harvey led the Knights with 18 points and eight rebounds. The win snapped LU’s two game slide as the Blue and White advances to 12-6 overall and 5-3 in the SSC.

Tylar Tracy set the pace with a bucket from downtown in the opening thirty seconds. Lynn would hold the lead for the entire game, with Eckerd tying the score on two separate occasions. The Knights took their biggest lead of the first half, 32-21, after a trey from Tracy with 1:22 until the buzzer. A pair of free throws from Harvey in the final 30 seconds would secure a 33-23 halftime lead.

LU shot 41.4 percent from the field in the first half, with Harvey totaling 10 points and Tiffani Kerrison adding nine. The Tritons showed some tough defense in the first half, pulling down 22 boards while shooting 30.8 percent from the floor.

Lynn opened the second half with a 16-8 run that gave the Knights their biggest lead of the game after another basket from behind the arc from Tracy. With 12:18 to go LU had obtained a 46-31 advantage over the visitors. Eckerd answered back with a 10-2 run to cut the deficit to 10 at 8:19. With 1:16 to play a trey from Annie Armstrong put the Tritons back in the game down 57-51. Another shot from downtown by Kristiana Stauere put the Knights in the hot seat with only a three-point lead. However trips to the charity line for Charla Nelson-James and Harvey secured the victory for Lynn.

Tashina Bailey totaled nine points in the second half while Harvey put up another eight. LU grabbed 19 rebounds and shot 29.6 percent from the field. The Tritons improved their shooting to 42.9 percent and a perfect six for six from the free throw line.

Harvey led all scorers with her 18-point performance. Bailey, Tracy, and Kerrison also scored in double digits. Harvey also dished out a game-high six assists in the win. The Knights travel to Florida Souther for their second meeting of the season with the Mocs on Saturday, February 2.
