Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. – Lynn University’s women’s basketball team’s hopes of securing the top-seed in the Sunshine State Conference were put on hold following an 89-59 loss to Nova Southeastern on Saturday afternoon.  Kira Harvey was one of the few bright spots for the Fighting Knights as she tallied a game-high 24 points on 8-of-14 shooting and team-best seven rebounds.  The loss snapped Lynn’s three-game winning streak and dropped it to 17-8 overall and 10-5 in the SSC.

Harvey has now scored at least 20+ points in four consecutive games and 14 overall this season, upping her SSC-leading average to 19.0 points per game.

Turnovers were the demise of the Blue & White against the Sharks (18-6, 10-4 SSC).  In LU’s previous game, it committed just 11 turnovers but against NSU, the Fighting Knights turned the ball over 30 times, leading to 34 points.

Shatorria Baker tallied six assists in the loss, her third consecutive game with at least four dimes.  Harvey added four dishes and had a team-high seven rebounds.

Lynn shot 42.3 percent for the game and 68.8 percent from the free throw line while NSU hit 48.3 percent of its shots and 82.8 percent behind the charity stripe.

The Fighting Knights look to keep their prospects of claiming at least a share of the regular season SSC title when they take the court Saturday, March 2, at 2 p.m. in St. Petersburg, Fla., against Eckerd in their regular season finale.  Fans can follow the action live at LynnFightingKnights.com and receive in-game updates by following @LUKnights on Twitter and Instagram.
