BOCA RATON, Fla. – Lynn University’s women’s basketball team made up a 10-point deficit to topple Palm Beach Atlantic 56-48 on Friday evening.  Kira Harvey led all scorers with 21 points and inched a little closer to joining the 1,000 point club and becoming the all-time leader in three-point field goals.  The Fighting Knights improve to 6-2 overall while the Sailfish drop to 2-6.

After an early trey by Harvey, Palm Beach Atlantic tied the game behind Taylor Peterson and later took its first lead, 12-11, following a Kirstie Mason three from the right wing.  The Sailfish held court for the remainder of the half, going up by as many as 10, 32-22, before Charla Nelson-James and Tashina Bailey made it 32-28 heading into the locker room.

With a new half upon the Blue & White, Nelson-James and Harvey began to chip away at the PBA advantage, finally breaking through with 9:54 remaining.  Harvey nailed her fifth three-pointer of the night to put LU on top 42-41.

The senior from Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., needs three shots from behind the arc to become the all-time leader in three-pointers made with 155 and is five-points shy of becoming the ninth player in school history with 1,000 career points.

A slim lead was overturned by Ashley Doleberry but Nelson-James scored two more of her 11 points to put the Fighting Knights back up 46-45.  Harvey followed with a jumper in the paint but Doleberry continued to pester with a jumper to tie the game for the third time.

Tifani Kerrison came off the bench to drain her only three from long-range, giving the Blue & White the lead for good, and Tylar Tracy put the game out of reach, after Doleberry’s 11th turnover, with a three of her own.

Lynn shot 32.3 percent from the field and forced 23 turnovers, with Tracy logging four steals.

The Fighting Knights return to the hardwood on Monday, December 17, at 5:30 p.m. when they host Cameron.  Fans can catch the action live at LynnFightingKnights.com while receiving in-game tweets by following @LUKnights on Twitter and Instagram.  Don’t forget to ‘Like’ us on Facebook.
