West Palm Beach, Fla. - Lynn University’s women’s basketball team dropped just its second game of the New Year follow at 77-61 loss at Palm Beach Atlantic on Wednesday evening.  Tylar Tracy put forth her best effort with a career-high 19 points on 7-of-9 shooting while Charla Nelson-James closed out play with 14 points and nine rebounds.  The Fighting Knights drop to 11-5 overall on the season.

Behind the strong post play of Nelson-James, the Blue & White were able to take the early lead.  Schultz added to the LU advantage with a great follow-up to her own shot to put her team ahead 12-10.  But Becky Meerbeek answered with a bucket of her own and Taylor Peterson knocked down a three-pointer to give Palm Beach Atlantic (5-14) a lead it would not relinquish.

Four Sailfish scored in double-figures, led by Ashley Dolberry, who logged a game-high 26 points and 10 rebounds, six of which came on the offensive end.  Dolberry figured largely into a run that gave PBA a 33-21 lead with five minutes remaining in the first half.

Tracy’s lay-up in traffic jumpstarted a 9-0 run that culminated with Shatorria Baker draining a three from NBA-range distance, cutting the PBA lead to 34-30 heading into the break.

Seven consecutive points by Tracy kept LU in the contest in the second half until Mallory Motycka hit one of her three shots from beyond the arc to re-instill the double-digit Sailfish advantage.

Lynn shot 34.5 percent from the field compared to 43.9 percent for Palm Beach Atlantic.  The Fighting Knights did though fare well at the charity stripe, knocking down 17-of-20 attempts for an 85 percent clip.  Tifani Kerrison added 10 points off the bench for LU.

The Blue & White return to the hardwood on Saturday, January 26, at 2 p.m. when they host Sunshine State Conference leaders and 20th-ranked Nova Southeastern.  Fans can watch the action live at LynnFightingKnights.com and receive in-game updates by following @LUKnights on Twitter and Instagram.

Additionally, Lynn will be hosting its Sixth Annual Family Fun Day beginning at 10 a.m. and going through the men’s and women’s basketball games.  New this year is the inaugural Mini Knights Challenge obstacle adventure race. It is designed for kids 4 – 12. The first 300 kids to finish the obstacle race will receive a T-shirt and medal.  There will also be face painting, spin art, autographs, pictures with Big LU, raffles and Bingo with prizes throughout the day.
