    No. 7 Baseball Drops Both Games of Double Header, Swept in Weekend Series Melbourne, Fla. – The Lynn University Baseball team failed to respond to the series-opening loss with a win today, as the Fighting Knights were swept in the double header, and series, on Saturday against the Florida Tech Panthers. Game one was a walk-off winner for the home team, 4-3, and in game two the Panthers ran away with the 9-3 victory to seal the Sunshine State Conference sweep.

After breaking into the top-10 in multiple polls this week, the Lynn University baseball team was on everyone's radar, but fell at the hands of the Florida Tech, 8-5, on Friday night in a come-from-behind fashion for the Panthers.

    Baseball Launches Up Polls, Breaks into Top-10 BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Lynn University baseball team skied up both the Collegiate Baseball and National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association polls after winning nine of their previous 10 games. The white-hot Fighting Knights are listed as the seventh-ranked team in the country in the Collegiate Baseball poll, good for the highest in the 2017 campaign, No. 10 in the NCBWA national poll and No. 2 in the NCBWA South Region rankings.

    Baseball Sweeps Double Header, Series Against No. 16 Mocs BOCA RATON, FLA. – The Lynn University baseball team took the diamond for a double header on Saturday looking for the series win, and got that done, and more. The Fighting Knights took game one, 14-5, and game two, 10-6. Frank Grandinette gave the Blue and White the start the squad knew he was capable of, and got the win to take the series on the mound. The hot-hitting bats kept going and Nuzzi was strong out of the bullpen, earning the three-inning save and enabling the sweep of nationally-ranked Florida Southern at home.

    Lynn Dominates SSC Player of the Week Awards Lynn University athletics had an incredible showing out of the league office on Monday afternoon, securing eight Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week accolades. Marquan Botley and Vieux Kande swept the men’s basketball awards, Donovan Armas brought home baseball’s Pitcher of the Week honor while softball’s Karolina Flores was named the Player of the Week. Dryden Brous and Shaun McDonald secured two of the three men’s lacrosse awards with Stefanie Stemmer and Jean-Baptiste Mateo clinching a Fighting Knights’ sweep in the tennis category.

Ellison went 6-for-9 on the week with two homeruns, six RBI, four runs scored, a walk and finished game three of the Columbus State series one double shy of hitting for the cycle.

    Baseball Splits First Two Games Against Cougars Boca Raton, Fla. – The Lynn baseball team split the double-header against Columbus State on Saturday, losing the first game 8-6, in a game where both squads reached double-digit in hits. The second game went in favor of the home team, 5-2, as Fighting Knight pitching from Donovan Armas and Daniel Nuzzi shut down the Cougar offense for the majority of the 7-inning game.

    Baseball’s Comeback Attempt Cut Short Against Sailfish JUPITER, Fla. – The Lynn baseball team has had a running theme of late-inning offense this season, and it happened again on Tuesday night, but three late runs in the eighth and ninth innings were not enough to catch the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish, 7-6. The comeback attempt featured back-to-back homeruns by Tyler Curtis and Jonathon Corbitt, but not even adding one more run in the ninth would do the trick, as PBA’s Joey Hennessey shut the Fighting Knights down for his second save of the early season.

    Ceballos Powers Baseball to Season-Opening Victory BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Lynn baseball team stepped onto the diamond for the first time in 2017 Friday afternoon, and many wondered how so many new faces could respond to adversity. What help would come on the mound? What bats would step up after a 103-homerun season last year? Well after being down to Alabama-Huntsville 5-1 heading into the bottom of the seventh, both questions would be answered. Enrique Perez came in and shut the Chargers down on the mound and the bats slowly came around with Willie Seay providing a clutch base-hit off the bench. Miguel Ceballos powered his second of the day over the wall in the eighth, proving to be the difference.
