Ellison Named SSC Baseball’s Player of the Week

Melbourne, Fla. – A hot start to the 2017 season for senior-transfer, Karl Ellison as the Lynn University baseball catcher, was honored as the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week on Monday.  Ellison went 6-for-9 on the week with two homeruns, six RBI, four runs scored, a walk and finished game three of the Columbus State series one double shy of hitting for the cycle.

The Naples, Fla. native transferred into the Blue and White program after playing for the University of Vanderbilt three seasons. Ellison has split time at catcher and first base with Jonathan Corbitt so far this year. The senior leader has played in all seven games, and his bat has made an instant impact, as he is hitting .409 at the plate with an on-base-percentage of .488. When he hits it, he hits for extra bases more times than not, as evident by his .909 slugging percentage.
