Melbourne, Fla. – The Lynn University baseball catcher and first baseman, Karl Ellison, was honored as the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week on Monday. This marks the second time this season the senior has been tabbed with the award.
Ellison went 5-for-11 on the weekend with a grand slam, 12 RBIs, four runs scored, and a walk. He led the high-powered offense that scored a combined 39 runs on 44 hits.
The Naples, Fla. native transferred into the Blue and White program after playing for the University of Vanderbilt three seasons. Ellison has split time at catcher and first base. The senior leader has played in all 50 games, and his bat proved to be a consistent impact all season long, as he finished with a .353 average at the plate, an on-base-percentage of .420, and when he hits it, he hits for extra bases more times than not, as evident by his .689 slugging percentage.
After the regular season finale sweep of the Embry-Riddle Eagles, the Fighting Knights await their potential postseason berth destination. Fans can keep up with the baseball team all season long at LynnFightingKnights.com and receive updates by following @Lynn_Knights on Twitter and Instagram.
