DALLAS (NCBWA) –The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association released its NCAA Division II National Player of the Week awards for the week ending on May 9. Lynn senior catcher and first baseman, Karl Ellison, is awarded the South Region Hitter of the Week on Friday, giving the Fighting Knights their second Player of the Week award from the NCBWA this season.

Ellison displayed his consistent bat at the plate this past week going 5-for-11 (.455 batting average) at the dish. When he hit the ball, he drove in runs, lots of them, totaling 12 RBIs on the weekend. He added three doubles, a grand slam and four runs to the boxscore to help the Fighting Knights to their only road series sweep of the season over the Embry-Riddle Eagles.
The Naples, Fla. native led the team in doubles (22) and RBIs (53) and ended the 2017 campaign with a .353 batting average and .689 slugging percentage.
He was an integral part of helping the Fighting Knights baseball team improving their win total from one year ago, and finished with a 30-20 record on the diamond.
