Greensboro, N.C. – The 2017 American Baseball Coaches Association All-America teams were announced on Tuesday afternoon, and Tyler Curtis was honored, representing Lynn University, on the All-American First Team. This is his second All-America honor after a dominant senior season.
The Fighting Knights third baseman holds the title of Sunshine State Conference Player of the Year, Division II Conference Commissioners Association All-South Region Team and finalist for the 2017 Tino Martinez Award. Curtis managed to hit .433 on the year, added 15 doubles, while driving in 47 runs and stole seven bases on eight attempts.
The Newburgh, N.Y. native ranked top 10 of the SSC in slugging percentage (2nd - .733), on base percentage (1st - .518), runs scored (4th – 59), total hits (5th – 81), home runs (10th – 13), and walks (7th – 31).
Curtis was accompanied by three student-athletes from the SSC, all coming from the University Tampa. The Spartans had infielder J.D. Osborne on the first team, as well as shortstop Kevin Santa and pitcher David Lebron earn second team honors.
Lynn's own Rudy Garbalosa is the Chair of the ABCA NCAA Div. III All-America and Coach of the Year Committee.
