BOCA RATON, Fla. – Lynn University cross country runner Gabriella Wuyke and assistant coach Jon Volpi turned in successful runs at the 13th Annual Boca Raton PAL Holiday Mile.  Wuyke finished first among 151 female runners while Volpi placed third of 150 male runners.

The one mile race from SE 8th Street to Mizner Park took the junior from East Lyme, Conn., 0:05:19, 11 seconds faster than the next runner.  Volpi finished in 0:04:36, nine seconds back of first and three ticks back of second place.  Wuyke finished 15th overall among men/women.

The 13th Annual Boca Raton PAL Holiday Mile is a fund raiser to benefit the Boca Raton Police Athletic League and Runner’s Edge Foundation.

Lynn University’s cross country team restarted in 2012 following an 11-year hiatus.  Wuyke earned All-Sunshine State Conference honors and earned medalist honors in the NCAA South Region, becoming the first runner in program history to accomplish that feat.
