Cross Country vs. SSC Tournament Hosted by Rollins
Wuyke Claims Top-10 Finish at SSC Championship

Orlando, Fla. – Lynn University’s history making cross country team added another honor following Gabrielle Wuyke’s sixth place finish in the Sunshine State Conference Championship. Wuyke becomes the first runner in school history to earn SSC All-Championship accolades and qualify for the NCAA South Region Tournament. Overall, all six runners set personal best times for the Fighting Knights.
Running in her third 6K of the season, the East Lyme, Conn., native shattered her previous best by almost two minutes with a time of 22:54.90. She ran a time of 24:23.49 at the UCF Black & Gold 6k Invite. Wuyke finished one minute back of the winner, Alexandria Palm from Nova Southeastern.
Stephanie McGowan had the next largest improvement for LU, beating her past 6k mark by a minute and 30 seconds for a time of 29:47.70. Coming in ahead of her were Ashley Nazario and Kinsey Roberts. Roberts shaved one minute off her previous best with a time of 29:34.97 while Nazario improved by 40 seconds for a time of 28:36.91.
Sara Harmouch competed in her first event for the Blue & White and logged a time of 37:16.80, finishing ahead of Clara Gilliam and her 41:21.40 time.
Tampa ran away with the title for the 10th time in 11 years, notching 27 points. Nova Southeastern finished second with 68 points. Rollins edged out Saint Leo for third with 108 points, while the Lions were just one point back with 109. Florida Southern placed fifth with 118 points. Florida Tech took sixth place with 129 points. In its first season of cross country competition in 11 years, Lynn was seventh with 186 points.
Wuyke will next compete in the NCAA South Regional on Saturday, November 3rd. The race will be hosted by the University of Alabama-Huntsville.
