Cross Country Runs with the Bulls in Season Opener
Tampa, Fla. - Lynn University's cross country team began the 2013 campaign at the USF Invite where it finished eighth out of nine teams. Gabriella Wuyke paced the Fighting Knights with a career-best 5K time, while Kinsey Roberts, Stephanie McGowan and Sara Harmouch also turned in personal-best times.
Wuyke started the season with a time of 18:04.31 to finish 14th overall, first among the Blue & White and sixth among runners from the Sunshine State Conference. She becomes the first runner in program history to finish with a time under 20 minutes.
Sarah Northup turned in a solid performance in her Blue & White debut. The freshman from Howie-in-the-Hills, Fla., was the second Lynn runner to cross the finish line at 21:06.12. Ashley Nazario finished fourth on the team overall with a time of 24.49.30
Roberts ended her run with a time of 21:52.54, nearly three minutes better than her top time from 2012. McGowan finished at 25:02.89, topping her best time by a minute and Harmouch closed out the USF Invite at 27:39.76.
Lynn posted a total time of 1:50:55.17 and had an average time of 22:11.04, both program bests. Tampa took first place as a team followed by Saint Leo, Embry-Riddle, Nova Southeastern and Florida Tech.
