Men’s Golf Fifth at Donald Ross Intercollegiate
Morganton, N.C. - Lynn University’s men’s golf team is fifth after the first round of the Donald Ross Intercollegiate. The Fighting Knights got off to a late start due to inclement weather and were unable to finish round two before night fall.
Daniel Young and Filip Timmerman end the first 18 holes tied for 13th place after posting even par 71s. Roberto Francioni and Jose Andres Miranda each shot rounds of 74 while Ernesto Vitienes headed to the clubhouse with an 82.
Young, though, had moved up the leaderboard in the second round before darkness set in. The senior from Perth, Scotland was tied for seventh with nine holes to play while Timmerman had moved into a tie for 16th with five holes remaining.
Lynn (290) is just nine strokes back of leader James Madison (281) while Western Carolina (285), Wofford (286) and Elon (293) round out the top-five.
The Fighting Knights will conclude the Donald Ross Intercollegiate on Tuesday, October 16, at Mimosa Hills Golf Course beginning at 9 a.m.
