Orlando, Fla. – Lynn University’s men’s golf team trails by two strokes heading into the final day of competition at the McDonough Cup.  Filip Timmerman is tied for fourth individually while three of his teammates remain in the top-15.

Windy conditions led to the Fighting Knights posting an opening round 299 before the team fired a tournament-low even par 288 in the second 18-holes.  Lynn (587) trails Nova Southeastern (585) and holds a six-stroke lead over Florida Southern (593).  Mount Olive (596) and Valdosta State (597) round out the top-five.

Timmerman started play with a 75 before shooting a two-under par 70 in the second round.  He is one shot back of the leaders, Ben Taylor of NSU, Mark O’Hara from Mt. Olive and Davis Hall of host Rollins.  Ernesto Vitienes posted a 147 following rounds of 74-73 while Daniel Young and Roberto Francioni are tied for 14th with a score of 148.  Jose Andres Miranda carded a 153 through the first 36-holes.

Lynn brought two individuals into competition, Max Albertus and Fraser Thain.  Albertus started hot with a 69 but hit a rough patch over the final 18-holes with an 80.  Playing in his first collegiate tournament, Thain logged scores of 79-78, respectively.
