Men’s Golf Finishes Ninth at Southeastern Collegiate
Valdosta, Ga. – Lynn University’s men’s golf team had too much ground to make up after the first day and finished ninth out of 14 teams in a field that included nine top-25 teams at the First Federal Southeastern Collegiate. Daniel Young earned his third top-10 finish of the season, shooting a 54-hole score of 217 on the par 72, 7,140-yard Kinderlou Forest course.
The sophomore out of Perth, Scotland shot rounds of 73-71-73 to tie for sixth place, five-shots back from medalist Patrick Garrett of Georgia College & State. Jacopo Mazzola and David Rose each carded totals of 225 and were followed by Ricardo Gouveia (227) and Pepito Joia (233). Paul McPhee also participated as an individual and fired a 233, respectively.
Lynn (893) had its best day of the two-day tournament, shooting a 294 in the third round but couldn’t catch up to the top teams. Georgia College & State (869) made the leap to first, ahead of Barry (873), West Florida (878) and North Alabama and Columbus State (884).
The Fighting Knights get back on the links on Monday, February 21, when they participate in the Bobcat Invitational in Cuscowilla, Ga.
