Men’s Golf Finishes Fourth at SSC Championship

Bradenton, Fla. – Lynn University’s men’s golf team shot a 316 in the final round to finish fourth at the 2012 Florida Blue Sunshine State Conference Golf Championship. Marcelo Rozo tied for eighth individually while Paul McPhee and Daniel Young were just outside the top-10.
Rozo posted a 54-hole total of 225 for his ninth top-10 finish, tying a single-season program record. McPhee shot a team-low 76 while Young carded a 78 as the duo each shot 230 to tie for 14th. Ernesto Vitienes and Filip Timmerman were the last of the LU contingent, shooting 82s, respectively.
Lynn (921) posted the third-lowest total of the third round but could not make up ground on winner Nova Southeastern (876). Florida Southern (913) snuck past Florida Tech (914) to claim second while Barry (925) rounded out the top-five.
The Fighting Knights now await the NCAA’s announcement on the South Region Tournament field, taking place May 7-9 at the Rock Barn Country Club in Hickory, N.C.
