Bradenton, Fla. – Lynn University’s men’s golf team sits fifth at the 2012 Florida Blue Sunshine State Conference Championship held at The Concession Club.  After a shaky first round, Marcelo Rebounded to shoot the second-lowest score of the tournament is fourth individually.

The senior out of Bogota, Colombia, opened play with a 76 to start the morning but improved seven strokes for a 69 for a one over par 145.  He trails Oscar Lengden from Nova Southeastern by three shots.  Rozo is looking for his ninth top-10, seventh top-five and sixth top-three finish of the season.

Daniel Young turned in a promising score of 74 over the first 18 holes of competition but faltered in the afternoon with a 78.  He is tied for 16th.  Participating in his first SSC Tournament, Ernesto Vitienes caught fire in the morning, draining birdies on the third and fifth holes before closing out the first round with a 75.  A second round 79 has him tied for 19th, along with teammate Paul McPhee, who fired rounds of 78 and 76.  Filip Timmerman carded a 163 as the final scoring member.

Lynn posted rounds of 303 and 302 for a 605 total.  Nova Southeastern (579) has a 19-stroke lead over Florida Tech and Florida Southern (598) while Eckerd (604) has a one-shot advantage over LU for fourth place.
