Women’s Golf Near the Top of Lady Moc Leaderboard
Lakeland, Fla. – Consecutive rounds of 310 has Lynn University’s women’s golf team in third place out of 17 teams after the opening day of the Lady Moc Classic. The Fighting Knights are just seven shots back of first place in an event that features eight teams from the top-25, including six in the top-10. Jessica Bradley is tied for sixth individually on the 6,255-yard, par 72 The Club at Eaglebrooke course.
The Bishops Nympton, England native ranks among the leaders in par five (-1) and par four (+5) scoring while also posting the third-most birdies on the day with five. Bradley carded consecutive rounds of 76 and is five shots back of the individual lead.
Thalia Baigorria, Samantha Smolen and Irene Calvo are all within a couple of shots of each other. Baigorria ended the first round with a 78 and made a one-stroke improvement in the latter-half of the afternoon for a 155 total. Samantha Smolen posted a 156 while Calvo turned in a 157. Baigorria is tied for the field lead in par three scoring (E) while Smolen posted the sixth-most pars (23) and Calvo is tied for fourth in par four scoring (+5).
Louise Manalo rounded out the LU starting five with a 161. Playing as an individual, Jackie DeMarco shot a 164, respectively.
Lynn (620) trails Seminole State College (613) and host No. 2 Florida Southern (619) but holds a slight edge over No. 6 Barry (621) and top-ranked Nova Southeastern (622).
