Women’s Golf Takes Fourth at Lady Moc Classic

Lakeland, Fla. – Lynn University’s women’s golf team finished fourth out of 17 teams at the Lady Moc Classic with a 54-hole score of 928.  The Fighting Knights finished just behind top-ranked Nova Southeastern (922) and host No. 2 Florida Southern (915).  Irene Calvo was the top finisher for Lynn with a 230 total on the 6,255-yard, par 72 Club at Eaglebrooke course.

Showcasing their talent against some of the top competition in the country, the Fighting Knights (928) shot 308 in the final round.  Seminole State College (913), ranked No. 2 in the NJCAA, took top honors ahead of the Moccasins (915) while No.1 Nova Southeastern (922) finished third.  Division I Bradley (934) overtook Barry (935) to place fifth.

Calvo tied for 15th individually after posting her best round of the tournament, a one-over par 73.  Samantha Smolen tied for 18th with a two-day total of 234 while Thalia Baigorria and Louise Manalo each carded scores of 238.  Playing as an individual, Jackie DeMarco scored a 54-hole total of 245.

The Fighting Knights return to the links on Monday, March 5, at the Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational hosted by Rollins College.
