Lacrosse Announces 2014 SSC Schedule
BOCA RATON, Fla. – Just over a week after the ceremonial groundbreaking of Bobby Campbell Stadium for soccer and lacrosse, Lynn University announced the Sunshine State Conference portion of its lacrosse schedule has been secured. The Fighting Knights inaugural season will also be the first in the SSC-sponsored lacrosse season.
“Lacrosse is the fastest growing sport in North America, so it is great to have the SSC sponsor men’s lacrosse and add another conference to the NCAA Division II level,” said head coach Brian Kingsbury. “With so much growth in the sport, the NCAA has expanded the national tournament from four to eight teams this season. Coupled with the pending approval of a SSC championship, there are more opportunities for our conference to make the NCAA Tournament.”
Although the overall schedule has not been set, Lynn will open is league season Saturday, March 15, at Rollins in Winter Park, Fla. The Fighting Knights will also take to the road against Saint Leo and Florida Tech.
Bobby Campbell Stadium hosts its first SSC lacrosse match on Saturday, March 29, at 7 p.m. when the Blue & White welcome Florida Southern. Lynn’s final SSC contest is slated for Saturday, April 12, at 7 p.m. where it hosts Tampa.
“As a coach from the Northeast, I know northern teams will be looking to get out of the cold winter weather to play during their spring break in Florida,” Kingsburgy added. “This provides a great opportunity for fans to see plenty of exciting college lacrosse, especially in our new Bobby Campbell stadium.”
Fans will be able to watch all SSC matches live and follow the entire season at LynnFightingKnights.com.
