Delray Beach, Fla. – In the spirit of service to its community, Lynn University’s men’s soccer team jumped back into its giving ways by participating in A Brush with Kindness sponsored by Habitat for Humanity this past Saturday. This marks the third consecutive year LU Athletics has partnered up with Habitat for Humanity.
“This was such a fantastic and fulfilling event for Lynn University and the men’s soccer program because we were able to help out those who are less fortunate,” said head coach John Rootes. “It’s such a rewarding experience knowing that you are able to assist in the rebuilding of someone’s life and I think that’s what all of the guys are going to be able to take away from this.”
Habitat for Humanity’s A Brush with Kindness is an exterior home preservation service that offers painting, landscaping, weather stripping and minor repair services for homeowners in need. ABWK helps low-income homeowners impacted by age, disability and family circumstances, who struggle to maintain the exterior of their homes, reclaim their homes with pride and dignity.
“Lynn University has a longstanding relationship with all of its surrounding communities and this is just another way for us to give back and extend a helping hand to our neighbors,” said Senior Vice President for Administration Gregory Malfitano.
All 27 players on the men’s soccer team sanded, prepped and primed a selected home in Delray Beach. The Knights’ men’s and women’s basketball programs will return this next weekend to complete the paint job.
“This is one of the events that our student-athletes look forward to every year,” added Sara Quatrocky, Assistant Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Services. “To truly make a difference in someone’s life is such a gift and I’m proud that our student-athletes embrace this to the fullest.”
