Orlando, Fla. – Lynn University men’s soccer alum Jean Alexandre helped the Orlando City SC capture its second United Soccer League Pro Championship in a 7-4 victory over the Charlotte Eagles on Saturday, September 7, at the Florida Citrus Bowl.  This is the second title for Alexandre after he was a member of the 2009 Major League Soccer Championship Real Salt Lake squad.

“I feel very blessed to play professional soccer, be the captain of the Haitian National Soccer Team and win championships at the MLS and USL Division I level,” said Alexandre, a member of the Blue & White from 2005-08.  “The reason why I’m here is because of my time as a Lynn student-athlete, which helped prepare and teach me what it takes to win at every given level.”

Alexandre played in 11 games for the Lions this season, scoring two goals on 11 shots.  The Delray Beach, Fla., product began his professional career in 2009 after becoming the highest drafted athlete in Lynn history, a first round selection by Real Salt Lake.  He later went on to play for the San Jose Earthquakes in 2012.

A four-year standout with the Fighting Knights, Alexandre earned All-America and Sunshine State Conference Player and Offensive Player of the Year accolades in his senior season while helping the team to a No. 1 ranking in the nation.  Alexandre, though, was not the only former SSC player to be a part of Orlando’s championship as former Rollins forward Dennis Chin and Tampa alum Brian Fekete were also members of the squad.

The top-ranked Lynn men’s soccer team is in action this week when they host Palm Beach Atlantic in its home-opener on Tuesday, September 10, at 3:30 p.m.  Fans can listen to the action live at LynnFightingKnights.com.  Don’t forget to ‘Like’ us on Facebook and follow @LUKnights on Twitter, Instagram and Vine.
