Winter Park, Fla. – Lynn University’s men’s soccer team did what no other school has been able to do this season: score two goals against Rollins and shut the Tars out in the process.  The Fighting Knights earned a 2-0 victory over No. 4 Rollins behind goals from Martin Wehlert and Harald Gracholski.  Lynn improves to 9-4 overall and takes over first place in the Sunshine State Conference with a 5-2 mark.

Playing a pivotal game against one of its toughest rivals, the Blue & White prepared for a battle.  And that is what they got as the top-two defensive teams in the SSC duked it out for 90 minutes and combined for 46 fouls and six yellow cards.

Playing for the first time in 10 days, Julian Halder set up the first and eventual game-winning goal 18:38 into the match.  The Bregenz, Austria, product bolted down the left sideline, putting himself in a position to send in a service ball.  With his cross in the air, Wehlert leaped past his defender and got just enough of the ball to slip it past Keneil Baker to pull LU ahead 1-0.

The Fighting Knights were able to add an insurance goal before the halftime whistle sounded.  Leading Lynn in goals entering this match, Gracholski was able to swipe a pass from the Tars and beat Baker one-on-one for his team-high seventh goal of the season.

Lynn’s defense did the rest, limiting Rollins to two shots on net in the second half, and five overall.  Matt DiCerbo made five saves overall but did not have to make a stop over the final 29 minutes.  The Tars’ (10-2-0, 5-2 SSC) only previous blemish was a 2-1 loss to Florida Tech earlier in the season.

The Fighting Knights look to make it three consecutive when they host Palm Beach Atlantic on Wednesday, October 19, at 3 p.m.  Fans can listen to the action live at www.LynnFightingKnights.com and receive in-game tweets from Sports Information Director Chad Beattie by following @Chad_BT.
