BOCA RATON, Fla. – Lynn University women’s soccer head coach Chip Dutchik announced his 2013 schedule on Tuesday afternoon with his team taking to the pitch for 17 games, nine of which will be held at the Lynn Soccer Field.  The Fighting Knights boast a two-match trip to Savannah, Ga., along with three additional non-conference tilts, while the remainder of their opponents will hail from the Sunshine State Conference.

“I cannot wait for this upcoming year,” said the fifth-year coach.  “We have a great group of girls coming back and I know they are hungry for victories.  This team has the right attitude and talent to win and the teams we will face this year will show whether or not they are ready.  Our schedule pits us against some of the top competition from the Southeast Region while the SSC continues to show they are one of the top conferences in the nation. ”

The Fighting Knights open at home for just the second time in the Dutchik era, and first since a 3-0 victory against Georgia College & State in 2009, when they welcome Ave Maria to Boca Raton on Saturday, September 7.

Lynn then takes to the road for matches against Clayton State and Armstrong Atlantic in Savannah, Ga.  The Blue & White have never faced CSU before and will be battling the Pirates for the second time.  Other non-conference games have LU hosting both Flagler and Palm Beach Atlantic.

This year the SSC enters the second season of its plus-four schedule, where each league school is selected to face four conference opponents in non-conference play. Lynn alternates home and away over this period from September 18-October 1, with road matches against Nova Southeastern and Barry while playing host to Florida Southern and Rollins.

Conference play starts October 5, at home versus Nova Southeastern.  The Fighting Knights then play four of their next six SSC games on the road as Eckerd and Barry are sandwiched in-between road tilts with Saint Leo and Tampa and Florida Southern and Rollins.  Lynn then ends the regular season with a November 2, match against Florida Tech.

The Blue & White are coming off a 5-8-3 season overall and 3-4-1 mark in SSC play but returns eight starters, including All-SSC First Team forward Kirstie Schults and senior defender Paige Meggison.  Fans can check the full schedule with times and read up on the women’s soccer team at, ‘Like’ us on Facebook and follow @LUKnights on Twitter, Instagram and Vine.
