Lakeland, Fla. – Lynn University’s women’s soccer team was playing with a lot of confidence following a pair of Sunshine State Conference victories but Florida Southern proved too much in a 3-0 loss on Saturday evening.  Meghan Dolan stopped 10 shots in defeat.  The Fighting Knights drop to 2-4-1 overall.

A breakaway attempt in the opening minutes of the match set the tone for the rest of the afternoon for LU as Kirstie Schults broke free for a one-on-one attempt against the Mocs (2-4-1) but failed to properly connect on the shot.

Minutes later Caroline Evers found the back of the net for the first of two goals when she hit a ball to the upper left corner unchallenged.  Evers then made it a 2-0 match when she headed in a cross from Kirra Rainbow from the right side.

Lynn came out firing in the second half but a take-down inside the box and the ensuing penalty kick goal by Sarah Goolsby put the game out of reach.

Florida Southern out shot Lynn 17-4 and held a 2-0 advantage in corner kicks.

The Fighting Knights return to the pitch on Wednesday, September 26, at 1 p.m. when they host Tampa.  Fans can watch the action live at LynnFightingKnights.com.  Don’t forget to ‘Like’ us on Facebook and follow @LUKnights on Twitter and Instagram.
