Kasey Murray Named to Daktronics All-South Region Softball Team
Boca Raton, Fla.- A week after being named to the 2013 All-Sunshine State Conference Second Team, Lynn University’s Kasey Murray has been announced as a Daktronics All-South Region Softball Team selection. Murray split time in the pitching circle and at first base for the Fighting Knights this season, helping the Blue and White to its best record in three years while earning second team accolades.
Murray, a junior from Lutz, Fla., was selected as a Utility/Pitcher selection after pitching in 34 games with 28 starts for LU. She threw 184.2 innings with 81 strikeouts and a 3.37 ERA for a 11-17 record. When playing first base, Murray maintained a .947 fielding percentage while recording 163 put outs and 70 assists.
Offensively she led the team in extra base hits with 11 doubles and two triples. Murray knocked in 20 RBI and scored 14 runs while posting a .309 batting average, a .408 slugging percentage and a .335 on base percentage.
Earning Player of the Year honors was Courtney Albritton of Valdosta State University while Tampa’s Kayla Cox was honored as South Region Pitcher of the Year.
