BOCA RATON, Fla.- After a 3-0 week for the Lynn University men’s tennis team, junior Vlad Cirla has earned Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week accolades. Cirla, who won six consecutive singles sets in the opening week of the 2013 season, helped lift the Fighting Knights past No. 6 Rollins on February 9.

After an 8-1 doubles victory over St. Thomas’ Nicholas Etienne and Arturo Romero with partner Willi Wolfer, No. 17 Cirla went head-to-head with Etienne for a singles victory in two sets of 6-2.

The duo, ranked fourth in the nation, also teamed up to face Rollins’ Will Kwok and Robin Marchione for an 8-2 win. Cirla defeated Kwok in two tough sets of 7-5 and 6-3 en route to Lynn’s 6-3 conference win over the Tars.

With Wolfer resting against Eckerd, Cirla teamed up with newcomer Giulio Gomba to beat Madison Durley and Jonathan Cheng 8-2. In the number one spot, Cirla faced Tritons top singles player Dylan Randazzo. His 6-0, 6-0 sweep of Randazzo was his first shut out sets of the season.
