Men’s Tennis Totals Seven ITA Scholar-Athletes
STILLMAN, N.J.—With a team grade point average
of 3.50, Lynn University’s men’s tennis team and seven student-athletes
received Intercollegiate Tennis Association academic honors as announced on
Vlad Cirla, Amaury Van Haelen, Max Kouyate, George Laffey, Dominique Nobile, Alessio Iannozzi and Luca Pavanelli all claimed ITA Scholar-Athlete honors.
Cirla led the way for Lynn with a 3.90 GPA in sports management while also amassing ITA singles and doubles All-America accolades. Senior transfer Van Haelen totaled a 3.88 GPA for the fall and spring and led the team in singles wins with 20.
Kouyate posted a 3.71 GPA in business as senior Laffey finished out his senior year with a 3.67 GPA while completing his degree in business management. Nobile, also studying business, assembled a 3.63 GPA.
Lynn’s Italians and doubles team of Iannozzi and Pavanelli composed GPAs of 3.5 and tallied a 12-4 record as doubles partners.
The ITA All-Academic Team award is given to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above on a 4.00 scale. ITA Scholar-Athlete awards are given to collegiate tennis players who achieve a grade point average above 3.5 and have been enrolled in the school for at least two semesters.
