Men's Tennis Match Postponed Due to Rain
BOCA RATON, Fla.- Lynn University's men’s tennis team had to postpone play with No. 25 Florida Southern due to inclement weather on Thursday night. The fourth-ranked Fighting Knights held a 2-1 lead over the Mocs (1-2) before play was halted due to rain.
Tomas Porkop teamed with Alessio Iannozzi to face FSC’s Vladimir Barabash and Charles Garneau in the No. 3 doubles slot. The Blue & White’s Porkop and Iannozzi won their match, 8-2, to give Lynn the first point of the Sunshine State Conference match. In the No. 1 and No. 2 spots, both teams took their games to tie breakers. Vlad Cirla and Roman Turtygin were defeated by the Mocs’ Nathan Leavitt and Carl Lundberg in the No. 2 doubles slot, 9-8 (7-3). With the match count tied at 1-1, Paolo Volpicelli and Daniel Riggs defeated Emanuel Lueber and Benoit Paradis in a very evenly played No. 1 doubles match, 9-8 (7-3).
The rain began to fall during singles making the courts unplayable. The match has been rescheduled for March 28, at 3:00 p.m. Due to the completion of the match having to take place after the 48 hour mark, it will be started from scratch at the previously mentioned date.
Lynn (7-0, 4-0 SSC) will return to the home courts on Friday, February 28, for a regional match against No. 21 Georgia Regents University-Augusta.
