Winter Park, Fla. – With five teams competing for titles at the C.L. Varner, Lynn University’s men’s tennis team saw Willi Wolfer and Pavel Mohja claim singles championships and Alessio Iannozzi and Max Kouyate win a doubles title.
In a battle of the top-two seeds in the tournament, Wolfer emerged victorious, topping No. 1 seed Amar Hromic of UCF easily 6-2, 6-2 in the A Flight. He has now won two individual tournaments in the last two weeks heading to the USTA/ITA Small College Championship.
Participating in Flight B, Pavel Mohja made quick work of Samuel Poutignat from Lander 6-2, 6-1. His singles title came on the heels of a defeat with teammate Vlad Cirla in the Doubles A Flight. Cirla and Mohja fell 8-6 over Hromic and Bologna of UCF.
Lynn’s last win came in the Doubles B Flight with Iannozzi/Kouyate beating Axelsson/Poutignat of Lander 8-6 in a closely contested match. Unfortunately, Kouyate fell 4-6, 1-6 to Diego Zegarra of Lander in the Singles C Flight.
The Fighting Knights will next take part in the ITA Small College Championship in Mobile, Ala.
