Iannozzi had the easiest route to his next opponent, topping Juan Varon of Bethune-Cookman 6-1, 6-0 in Flight B of the singles draw.  Vlad Cirla was also impressive in his fall debut, knocking off Ismail Lentouni of Saint Leo 6-0, 6-2, setting up a showdown with Paul-Henri Arrigoni from Lander in the A Flight.

Mohja and Adam Jonsson (Lander) went back-and-forth until a service break gave the Blue & White a 6-4 win in the opening set before dominating 6-0 to claim the win.  He will square off against Jacobo Gonzales-Tarrio from Saint Leo next in Flight B.

Kouyate had to labor to get his victory before winning 7-5 in the opening game against Leonardo Lima of BCU.  He came back strong in the second set to win 6-2 in Flight C.  Additionally, Luca Pignatelli faced Diego Ramirez but rain delayed the conclusion in Flight D.

Wolfer and Lynn’s two doubles teams all earned first round byes.  The USTA/ITA South Region Tournament champion begins competition against Aloua Adjenak of Saint Leo while Cirla/Mohja take on Varon/Day from Bethune-Cookmana and Iannozzi/Kouyate  battle Rotich/Lima of Rollins.

Lynn and UCF were the only two schools to go unbeaten on the first day of competition.
