No. 3 Fighting Knights Remain Perfect in Men’s Tennis
CLEARWATER, Fla.- Lynn University’s men’s tennis team remains unbeaten in the 2013 season after a 9-0 conference victory over Eckerd College on Sunday morning. The Fighting Knights move to 3-0 overall, 2-0 in the Sunshine State Conference.
The Blue and White mixed things up a bit in its first away match of the season. Max Kouyate and Pavel Mohja teamed up to take on the Tritons’ duo of Randazzo and Felman in a 8-2 victory. Simon Gloeckner and Alessio Iannozzi won their doubles match 8-4, while Vlad Cirla and Giulio Gomba won 8-2 over the Tritons.
Heading into singles play with a 3-0 lead, the Fighting Knights were led by Cirla, who ranks No. 17 in the nation. Cirla swept his singles match, 6-0 in both sets. Kouyate also swept singles in sets of 6-0, 6-0 to secure the Lynn victory.
No. 28 Iannozzi, Mohja, Gloeckner and Gomba all won their singles sets to finalize the 9-0 win. LU will host Ave Maria on Wednesday, February 13 for a non-conference match.
