BOCA RATON, Fla.—Lynn University’s men’s tennis team rolled to a 9-0 Sunshine State Conference win on Friday over the Florida Southern College Mocs.
The top doubles team for Lynn (5-0, 3-0 SSC) and No. 4 team of Amaury Van Haelen and Vlad Cirla finished first in doubles play and posted an 8-2 win over the Mocs’ Jorge Gutierrez and Ivan Merevic.
After the completion of number three doubles, the Fighting Knights collected a 2-0 advantage. George Laffey and Max Kouyate cruised to an 8-4 win over Nathan Leavitt and Charles Garneau.
Shortly after, the Fighting Knights stretched their advantage to 3-0 when the No. 8 team of Luca Pavanelli and Willi Wolfer dropped Benoit Paradise and Carl Lundberg 8-5.
Kouyate finished play first on the singles side with a 6-0, 6-0 blanking of Leavitt at number three singles. Lynn’s top singles player, No. 5 Wolfer, amassed a 6-2, 6-2 win over Paradis to secure the Blue & White victory and make it a 5-0 tilt.
At the second singles flight, No. 12 Cirla won 6-3, 6-1 against Florida Southern’s No. 40 Marevic then Van Haelen totaled a 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) victory over Gutierrez in the fourth singles flight.
In number five singles, Ben Kendall grabbed a 7-5, 6-0 win against Lundberg while Alessio Iannozzi went 6-0, 6-3 versus Garneau to conclude the match.
