Melbourne, Fla.- Lynn University’s men’s tennis team (7-0, 4-0 SSC) defeated No. 43 Florida Tech, 7-2, on Tuesday afternoon. The Fighting Knights improve to 19-2 all-time against the Panthers with the win. The Blue & White was led by senior Alessio Iannozzi who won both his matches to lift the team to its fourth Sunshine State Conference victory of the season.

Iannozzi teamed with Thomas Porkop in the No. 3 doubles slot for the Fighting Knights where they defeated Riley Lorenz and Daniel Armellino, 8-2, to put Lynn ahead 1-0. Vlad Cirla and Roman Turtygin took down Beau Fieldsend and Matic Leskovar, 8-5, but Florida Tech’s singles duo of Wade Ball and Patrick Hernandez beat the Blue & White’s top pair, Daniel Riggs and Paolo Volpicelli, in a hard fought match, 9-8.

No. 17 Vlad Cirla retired in his singles match when he was down to Hernandez, 0-2, in the first set giving the Panthers their second point. Lynn’s Porkop won at the No. 3 spot, 6-0, 6-2, over Armellino. Iannozzi’s three-set victory over Fieldsend (6-3, 4-6, 6-1) put the Fighting Knights within one point of clinching the SSC win. Riggs defeated Leskovar in straight sets of 6-4 to give the Blue & White a 5-2 lead.

Volpicelli and Giulio Gomba had wins in the fifth and sixth spots for Lynn to complete the win.
