No. 4 Men's Tennis Falls at Home to No. 5 Hawaii Pacific

BOCA RATON, Fla.- Lynn University’s fourth-ranked men’s tennis team lost to No. 5 Hawaii Pacific on Sunday morning, 5-1. The Fighting Knights fall to 12-4 overall and the loss moves the Blue & White to 1-1 all-time against the Sharks. 

Mattis Wetzel and Jaume Martinez-Vich defeated Lynn’s No. 2 doubles team of Pavel Mojha and Roman Turtygin, 8-2, for the first point of the match. Alessio Iannozzi and Tomas Prokop then won, 8-5, over Yann Renault and Adriano Locorotondo at the No. 3 doubles spot to even the match, 1-1. Danny Riggs and Paolo Volpicelli lost, 8-6, at the top spot to Aaron Machida and Thibaud Berland for HPU to take a 2-1 lead heading into singles play. 

No. 6 Martinez-Vich defeated Lynn’s Riggs at the No. 2 singles spot, 6-3, 6-0, for HPU’s third point. No. 2 Michnev’s 6-3, 6-2, victory over the Blue & White’s Prokop at the top of the lineup put the Sharks within one point of winning the match. Paolo Volpicelli lost 6-3, 6-_, at the No. 3 spot to Thibaud Berland which gave the Sharks their first win in program history over the Fighting Knights.

Lynn returns to the court  on Friday, March 28, when the Blue & White hosts Florida Southern in a match that was rescheduled due to rain earlier in the season.
