Men’s Tennis Blanks Bobcats

BOCA RATON, Fla.—Lynn University’s men’s tennis team rolled to a 9-0 win over the St. Thomas University Bobcats in their season opener on Thursday.

The Blue & White posted three 8-1 wins in doubles to start the match up 3-0. No. 4 Vlad Cirla and Amaury Van Haelen teamed up at number one doubles to drop Andrew Rifkin and Arturo Romero while No. 8 Willi Wolfer and Luca Pavanelli defeated Nicolas Etienne and Grover Ordonez at the second doubles flight. At the third doubles spot, George Laffey and Max Kouyate to make quick work of Mario Awad and Luis Aispur.

In singles play, No. 5 Wolfer defeated Rifkin 6-1, 6-2 at number one singles and No. 12 Cirla grabbed a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Etienne at number two.

No. 49 Pavanelli wrapped up the Bobcats’ Ordonez  6-1, 6-1 and newcomer Kouyate captured his first career singles win at number four with a 6-0, 6-0 blanking of Romero.

Van Haelen and Alessio Iannozzi also collected their first career wins with two 6-1, 6-0 victories. Van Haelen defeated Esteban Serrano and Iannozzi rolled through Awad.
