No. 6 Women's Tennis Beats Embry-Riddle, 7-2

BOCA RATON, Fla.- Lynn University’s women’s tennis team improved its record to 10-0 with a 7-2 win over Embry-Riddle (3-3) on Saturday afternoon. The Fighting Knights took down the seventh-ranked team in the NAIA with a singles sweep lead by No. 5 Valentine Confalonieri and Ioana Ivan. 

Rosalie Willig and Andrea Berkova got things started for the Blue & White with a 8-1 victory at the No. 2 doubles spot when they defeated Paola Montero and Anna Gotz. Lynn’s top duo made it a 2-0 lead with a 8-1 win over ERAU’s Hui-I Huang and Kristina Marova, who are the top team in the NAIA. Kim Przeszlowski and Alina Jane completed the doubles sweep with a win over Eva Vilar and Paula Ortiza, 8-4. 

No. 11 Ivan put Lynn within one point of clinching the win with a 6-1, 6-2, win over No. 27 Kirstina Marova at the number three singles spot. No. 1 Confalonieri defeated the NAIA’s No. 9 singles player, Huang, 6-2, 6-0, to secure the win. Willig improved her singles record to 9-1 when she defeated Gotz at the No. 2 spot. 

No. 21 Berkova won at the fourth slot, 8-2, while Przeszlowski had a hard fought 8-6 loss against Oritza at the sixth spot. Aline Jane rounded out Lynn’s scoring with a 8-6 loss at No. 5 singles.

The Blue & White will travel to the California for three out-of-region matches. First on the list is Azusa Pacific on March 4. First serve is set for 4 p.m., pst.
