Sixth-Ranked Women's Tennis Blanks No. 15 Florida Tech
Melbourne, Fla.- Lynn University’s sixth-ranked women’s tennis team blanked No. 15 Florida Tech, 9-0, on Tuesday afternoon. Lynn improves to 9-0 on the season and 5-0 in Sunshine State Conference play while FIT falls to 2-3 overall and 0-3 in the SSC. With the win, the Blue & White improves to 14-0 all-time versus the Panthers.
Valentine Confalonieri and Ioana Ivan improved to 9-0 as the fifth-ranked team in Division II with an 8-5 win over No. 19 Kristina Huba and Natasa Vukovic. Andrea Berkova and Roaslie Willig paired at the number two spot for Lynn to sweep Meritt Rabson and Jessica Widmark, 8-0. Alina Jane and Kim Przeszlowski rounded out the doubles play with an 8-4 victory over Chloe Chanley and Gwendolyn Kauffman.
With a 3-0 lead heading into singles action, the Fighting Knights continued to dominate. Rosalie Willig defeated Vukovic in straight sets of 6-0 to put Lynn within one point of securing the win. No. 11 Ivan took down Widmark, 6-1, 6-0, sealing the victory. Alina Jane stepped up for an impressive 6-0,6-4 win in the No. 4 spot.
No. 1 Confalonieri defeated No. 12 Kristina Huba in two sets of 6-3 while Przeszlowski had a 6-1, 6-0 win over Kauffman at the fifth slot. Aleks Vukadinovic took on Katie Close for a 6-0, 6-3 win at sixth spot to finish up Lynn’s scoring.
Lynn returns home to the Perper Tennis Complex for a non-conference match against Embry-Riddle on Saturday, March 1.
