Women’s Tennis Rolls Queens Moves to Quarterfinals

LOUISVILLE, Ky.— Lynn University’s No. 3 women’s tennis team blanked the Queens (NY) College Knights 5-0 in the NCAA Round of 16 to advance to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Championship Tournament on Wednesday.

Lynn (21-4) composed two 8-0 wins in doubles with another 8-3 throttling , completing the doubles sweep to start the match.

The Fighting Knights’ No. 3 tandem of Sabine Krause and Ioana Ivan collected their third 8-0 win of the season against Queens’ team of Francesca Fanchin and Erika Goldsmith at the top doubles flight to give Lynn the early 1-0 tilt. The Ivan-Krause team has now totaled a 21-3 record on the year.

Doubles number three concluded play next with Kim Przeszlowski and Andrea Berkova rolling to their first 8-0 blanking of the season against the Knights of Queens team of Taylor Barber and Daniela Celi. 

Completing the landslide of doubles, Ana Kriz and Roxane Alexandru rolled to an 8-3 win over Phoebe Chiem and Anna Rodinova at the third doubles flight.

With a 3-0 lead heading into singles, Alexandru gave Lynn a 4-0 advantage with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Barber at the sixth singles flight.

Shortly after Alexandru’s match, No. 3 Ivan collected another 6-0, 6-0 win for Lynn at the top singles flight against Goldsmith. Ivan’s win gives her 22 singles victories on the year.
